YORK RALLY REPLY to E-Mail

Postby PUSHBIKE » Tue May 03, 2011 9:53 am

My view to club members is to keep the club run to the rally it's a case of use it or lose it.

Content of E-Mail below author name omitted

The show will operate a site entrance fee this year as stated on the website

www.yorkcycleshow.co.uk

The current arrangement has proved to be an issue for some people and the change has been made for economic reasons.

Unless we get some support from our visitors this will be the last year that the event will run, as our financial reserve is nearly depleted.

Some seem to think that we are sitting on a pile of CTC cash which is far from the truth.

The event is self-funding and is struggling in the current climate.

For some reason, some of our visitors seem to think that £2.50 was a lot of money to pay for a day out, which frankly baffles me, and a lot of other people too.

They obviously do not go to a National Trust Property, Alton Towers, a football match or even York Minster etc etc..

I could rant on all day. Whichever event I go to, anywhere in the world, as I approach the gate, I would expect to pay.

It`s always sad to hear of the death of a cyclist, my sympathies go to Wouter`s family and team mates.

Free publicity!!

Postby Dudette » Tue May 10, 2011 5:45 pm

Hello Road-Clubbers ... please see the attached link on the club website - we've had a request from a local magazine for their sports editor to come and do an article on the Club - it's history, activities etc.

Please let me have your views or comments, so I can reply and make arrangements.

Potentially a nice bit of free local publicity!

Is there any soap watchers in the Club ?
In tonight`s episode of Ennerdale or is it Emerdale (I`m not a fan) there was a cafe in it, :cuppa:
I`m fairly sure it was the cafe that cyclists, including the `Road Club go to in Otley. :ban:
If anyone else saw it and recognized it please let me know, ta, :Mmm:

Ha Ha, someone replied, it was Otley cafe !!!!!

Dudette, now you are a timekeeper you are supposed to be an honest, upright, doyen of cycling.
You can`t go around saying you`d have got someone `under the hour`, it just isn`t done.
In the past it was an hanging offence, now thankfully you only get deported ----- any preferences where to. 8-)
Only joking, .............. all them years sat int car reading, you was wasted, glad you`re involved now. Geo :D

Well I'm glad Steve clarified that, cos I was wondering "WTF is that all about? Timekeeper??"

Anyways I might not be stood on the roadside wi a stopwatch but hopefully my technical contributions to the club count for something!

Carry on ......................
